My name is Tricia and I would like to give you a brief history of my background as a counsellor and the work that I do. I have worked for well established counselling services such as Relate, counselling young people in schools and Trafford Primary Care Trust, counselling in Loss and Bereavement.
I piloted a scheme in four hostels for the homeless in Manchester working with young people; male and female and often refugees, at times working through an interpreter. I ran this scheme single-handed and very successfully for Bess Counselling. I also worked for Little Hulton Women and Family Centre counselling clients for various issues up to the age of 75.
Before I had finished my training to become a therapist I had a vision and that was to open a centre that could offer different types of therapy bringing together a number of professionals in their chosen field. The therapists that I have working along side me were hand picked for their expertise, professionalism and dedication.
I work with a large client base generated from the local doctor’s surgeries and by word of mouth.
I trained in Person Centred Therapy but work in a more integrated way using the tools best suited to the client’s individual needs. I currently have the following qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma in Counselling
- Certificate in Counselling
- Introduction to Counselling
- Certificate in Loss and Bereavement Counselling
- Certificate in Young Person’s Counselling
- Certificate in Child Protection Level One
- Certificate in Domestic Violence/ Abuse Awareness and Safety
- Certificate in Sexuality
- Certificate in Solution Focus Therapy
- Certificate in Psychological First Aid
I am a member of the BACP and abide by their code of ethics. I undertake regular training to increase my knowledge and enhance my practice. Twice a year I am privileged to work in the world famous retreat, Chiva-Som providing wellness coaching.
